While Alberta experienced about five days without power as a result of the hurricane on Aug 27, 2011, Alberta General Store was a bee hive of activity. Owners Cheryl and Charles Johnson brought in generators to keep perishables cold and grilled chickens and other goodies in front of the store to feed residents who could not cook and for workmen repairing utility lines in the area. We carry "Unkol" Chuck's Brunswick Stew -frozen, in two sizes, Quart & Pint- made right here at Alberta General Store in Brunswick County, Virginia. If you are traveling, our stew travels in a cooler for hours. It is frozen solid so it acts as a coolant also!
To defrost our stew we recommend overnight in the refrigerator or in the microwave set at "defrost," "chicken," 1 or 2 pound depending on the size you bought. After defrosting, stir and heat until desired temperature either in a saucepan, crock pot or the microwaveable container it came in at the time of purchase.
